JfB starts its 2001-02 season with two informational/musical events, to prepare you for our main concert series, which begins on September 11th with The Joshua Redman Quartet, followed on September 22nd by Avishai Cohen and the International Vamp Band (co-sponsored with Lotus Festival 2001).
We will be on hand once again at the 25th Fourth Street Festival of the Arts & Crafts, on Saturday, September 1, 10:00-6:00, and Sunday, September 2, 12:00-5:00. This annual event is held along 4th and Grant Streets on Labor Day weekend. This year we will have a booth next to the performance stage, on Grant between 3rd and 4th Streets. Stop by to pick up information about JfB, join or renew your membership, purchase tickets to our Joshua Redman concert, and learn about some of the things we have planned. On Saturday, we are featuring two sets of live jazz by promising young local musicians:
At 11:30 AM, pianist Chris Huckfelt's group will perform. Huckfelt is a student at BHSN, and was recently recognized by Down Beat magazine's 24th Annual Student Music Awards in the category "High School Outstanding Performances."
